Amedeo from Perry Barr, Birmingham
My name is Amedeo and I am originally from Italy, I migrated here with my wife and daughter about 30 years ago. We bought a 2 bedroom house in Perry Barr, whilst I was out working as a carpenter my wife would look after the home and prepare all the meals. She would typically cook Italian meals but as we started to eat out at restaurants we started trying different foods from different cultures and when shopping in the supermarket we started to buy cereals, ready meals, etc.
As a child growing up in Italy I used to love eating Margarita Pizza and my mother’s Pano Cotta is molto buono (very good). At home all of our meals were was from local traditional locally sourced food. I take my food seriously and never miss a meal hence my good looks.
Once when I was a child my mother put a Ricotta Pie to cool on the window. When she wasn’t looking a dipped my hand in grabbed a handful and rand down the road to eat it. When I got back she asked if it was me and of course I denied it but I didn’t realise I had crumbs around my mouth. Luckily she found it funny but told me off for stealing.
I feel glad to see that the UK has embraced my culture and in Birmingham they have some amazing Italian Restaurants.
